How do I carry an ATACH board on a plane?+
Take the board apart into nose, middle and tail, pack the three parts in the ATACH Travel Backpack or a padded bag, and check it in as regular luggage. Most airlines treat it as a normal bag instead of oversized sports equipment, so you usually avoid surfboard fees.
What is the maximum carry-on size?+
Most airlines allow carry-on bags around 55 × 40 × 20 cm (22 × 16 × 8 in) and 7–10 kg. Individual ATACH parts are longer than that, so the full board normally travels as checked luggage. Always check your airline's exact limits before flying.
What is the typical checked-bag limit?+
Standard checked bags are usually limited to 158 cm (62 in) total (length + width + height) and 23 kg (50 lb). A disassembled ATACH packed in its backpack is designed to stay close to these standard limits.
Will I pay surfboard fees?+
Airlines charge surfboard fees because of long board bags. A split board in a standard bag is often charged as normal luggage. Fees depend on the airline, so read the baggage rules for your ticket.
How do I protect the parts while travelling?+
Wrap the rails and joint areas with clothes or foam, remove the fins, and keep the connection hardware in a small pouch. Pack heavier items away from the joints.
Can I take the board on trains, buses or scooters?+
Yes. Packed down, ATACH fits luggage racks, car boots and a backpack, which makes trains, buses, bikes and scooters much easier than with a full-length board.
How long does it take to assemble on the beach?+
About a minute. Line up the parts, lock the connections, fit the fins and you're ready to paddle out.
Do I need tools?+
No special tools are needed to assemble or take apart the board.
